Powerful Lifelong Learning at ISB

Powerful Lifelong Learning at ISB!
I recently attended a fantastic session led by Prof. Rajendra Srivastava and a distinguished panel of leaders consisting of Bhaskar Sinha, Bobby Joy, Pranay Fotedar. Their insights on "Accelerating Growth through Business Innovation" were truly insightful. Huge thanks to the ISB Alumni Engagement team for putting these sessions together – they're an invaluable resource for continuous learning and growth.
Here are some key takeaways that resonated with me:
- Invest vs. Expense Framework: Move beyond traditional approaches! Think about initiatives as investments ("nurture") or expenses ("suppress") based on their potential impact.
- Ride the Rising Tide: Innovation thrives when we identify emerging trends ("rising tides") and invest in initiatives that align with them. This, as the saying goes, raises all ships.
- Shifting the Innovation Mindset: Command & Control stifles creativity. Empower teams and foster new ideas through "Influence & Inspire" leadership.
- Essential Skills for Innovation Leaders: Active listening and reducing friction (inspired by Huggy Rao's "Friction" project) are crucial for nurturing innovation within teams.
- Dynamic Goal Alignment: Salesforce's V2MOM approach, where everyone can see each other's goals, fosters transparency and improves new initiative success. Could we explore similar approaches within our own company?
What are your thoughts on these ideas? Let's keep the conversation going in the comments!
